Jim and Alice Tucker, the founders of CTM, have served in a number of phases of missions over the past 38 years.
Jim and Alice served first with Team Outreach, training churches in door-to-door evangelism. Next God led them to work with Child For Christ Crusade. For nearly six years they were involved with children’s home Bible clubs, summer camping, and Christian day care.
In 1976 Jim and Alice signed on for foreign mission service with Wycliffe Bible Translators. They served nearly twelve years with Wycliffe’s Mexico branch. Jim was involved in many construction and maintenance projects both in Mexico and at the stateside center near Tucson AZ. Alice was involved in various aspects of the children’s program and later served as the Personnel Coordinator.
In 1991 the Tuckers began working in Cameroon, Africa. Once again Jim used his skills as a “jack-of-all-trades” while Alice worked in housing and children’s education. Soon they were asked to manage the Cameroon Training Center, the largest mission center in West and Central Africa. They did this for four years.
Gradually their work of teaching and evangelizing Cameroonians became the dominant interest in their lives. God’s leading was clear. After 25 years they resigned from Wycliffe to step out in faith and begin a tribal ministry.
Established in 2003 Tribal Ministries is involved in three aspects of ministry: Shiloh – a spiritual retreat center; Shiloh Association – a non-profit that assists widows, HIV-AIDS orphans, and the handicapped; and village evangelization.
CTM functions under the umbrella of Interlink Ministries, Inc., a U.S. based mission board.
